When Caesar Rodney’s historic ride is reenacted across Delaware on June 12–13, the journey itself will be unforgettable. But thanks to the talented eye of Ashlee Emerson, the memories of this once-in-a-generation event will be preserved for years to come.

250Ride.org is proud to announce that Ashlee Emerson Photography will serve as the Official Event Photographer for Friday, June 12, documenting the opening day of Caesar Rodney’s Ride for Independence, from the historic launch ceremony at Christ Episcopal Church in Dover to the evening’s 250 Ride Gala at Thousand Acre Farm in Middletown. The celebration continues on June 13 as Caesar Rodney takes part in the Separation Day Parade in Historic New Castle beginning at noon. Joined by special guests and the Unheard Voices of the Revolution, the procession honors those whose contributions helped shape the fight for independence. Following the parade, the journey continues toward Philadelphia, completing the final chapter of this historic ride.

Known throughout Delaware and beyond for her ability to capture authentic emotion, meaningful details, and unforgettable moments, Ashlee has built a reputation as one of the region’s most sought-after photographers. Through Ashlee Emerson Photography, she has spent years documenting weddings, milestone celebrations, and life-changing events, developing a storytelling style that blends artistry with genuine human connection. Her work is rooted in preserving memories that families can cherish for generations.

For Ashlee, joining the 250Ride.org project represents an opportunity unlike any other.

“As the Official Event Photographer for June 12, I’m most excited to capture the emotion and connection woven throughout the entire journey,” Ashlee said. “From the historic launch at Christ Church to the charm and energy of each carriage stop, I’m looking forward to documenting not just the big moments, but the in-between ones too—the interactions, excitement, details, and atmosphere that make the experience so meaningful.”

The day begins at historic Christ Episcopal Church in Dover, where Caesar Rodney’s journey for independence will be ceremonially launched from the very church he once attended. The public ceremony will feature historical presentations, special guests, and the official departure of Rodney’s horse-drawn carriage as it begins retracing one of the most important rides in American history.

The celebration continues that evening at the 250 Ride Gala at Thousand Acre Farm in Middletown, where supporters, community leaders, sponsors, and guests will gather for an elegant evening celebrating Delaware’s role in the founding of the nation. Featuring dinner, entertainment, historic presentations, and the arrival of Caesar Rodney by carriage, the Gala serves as one of the signature events of the entire 250Ride.org initiative.

“Ending the evening at the 250 Ride Gala feels especially special because it brings everyone together to celebrate the journey and the community behind it,” Ashlee said. “I love capturing events in a way that feels authentic and memorable, so being able to tell the full story of the day from beginning to end is something I’m truly honored and excited to be part of.”

While Ashlee has documented countless important life moments throughout her career, she recognizes that the 250 Ride carries a unique responsibility.

“What makes documenting a living historical event like the 250 Ride so unique is knowing these moments are preserving history while it’s actively being experienced,” she explained. “It’s exciting to photograph something that blends history with real human interaction. From the reenactors and horses to the crowd reactions and meaningful details, every moment helps tell the story in a way that feels immersive and alive.”

That perspective aligns perfectly with the mission of 250Ride.org: bringing history to life through education, community engagement, and immersive experiences that connect modern audiences with the people and events that shaped America’s founding.

For organizers, having a photographer of Ashlee’s caliber involved adds another layer of significance to the project. Her ability to capture genuine emotion and tell stories through imagery ensures that the impact of the ride will extend far beyond the event itself.

“When people look back at these photos years from now, I hope they feel connected to the heart of the day—not just the history itself, but the pride, unity, and emotion behind it,” Ashlee said. “More than anything, I want the photographs to feel alive, like they’re stepping back into the moment and experiencing the energy, emotion, and significance of the ride all over again.”

While Ashlee will document the opening day of the journey on June 12, Caesar Rodney’s Ride for Independence continues on June 13 as the horse-drawn carriage travels through Historic New Castle during Delaware’s Separation Day celebrations before continuing toward Philadelphia. Together, the two-day reenactment commemorates Rodney’s historic 1776 ride and serves as one of Delaware’s signature events during the lead-up to America’s 250th anniversary.

From the launch in Dover to the celebrations in Middletown, New Castle, and beyond, 250Ride.org invites the public to experience history not as a lesson from the past, but as a living story unfolding in real time.
