As the 250 Ride prepares for its historic reenactment on June 12–13, 2026, the effort to commemorate Caesar Rodney’s legendary journey is not only about recreating the past — it is about preserving the present.

To help capture the energy, emotion, and scale of this once-in-a-generation event, 250Ride.org is proud to partner with Steve Magee Photography as a member of our official event and reenactment photography team.

Capturing History in Motion

The 250 Ride reenactment will feature Caesar Rodney traveling in a period carriage from Dover to Philadelphia — a two-day, 80+ mile journey with coordinated community stops along the way. On June 13, the ride will pass through historic Old New Castle, joining the city’s annual Separation Day festivities before continuing north toward its ceremonial arrival in Philadelphia.

For Steve Magee, documenting this effort is about far more than photographing a procession.

“My professional career began photographing nonprofit and charity events; work rooted in service, impact, and community,” Magee explains. “That foundation shaped how I see history. To me, American history is the story of imperfect progress — individuals choosing courage in pursuit of freedom and a better future for all. Documenting the 250 Ride isn’t just covering an event; it’s preserving a continuation of that story.”

Magee’s focus will center on the reenactment itself and the series of public events leading up to it — capturing the movement, the gatherings, the landscapes, and the people who bring the ride to life.

The Power of Live Moments

“This reenactment is more than performance; it’s reflection,” Magee says. “Reflection of who we were, who we are now, and who we can become. It’s honoring sacrifice while acknowledging that freedom has always required courage. I want to capture people choosing unity, standing side by side, even in a time that often feels divided.”

From Delaware’s sweeping countryside to community welcome stops and ceremonial arrivals, Magee sees powerful visual opportunities in both the grand and the intimate.

“When I think about the 250 Ride, I picture history coming to life; carriages moving through the Delaware countryside, period details woven into historic buildings, reenactors fully immersed in another era. I want to capture the scale of it all — the sweeping landscapes and major moments — while also preserving the quiet details that give it meaning.”

His style — natural, intentional, and observant — makes him uniquely suited to document live events without overproducing them.

“I don’t overproduce moments; I preserve them,” Magee says. “History should be preserved as it was.”

From kickoff celebrations and VIP receptions to the carriage rolling mile by mile toward Philadelphia, his images will capture the scale, energy, and emotion of the 250 Ride as it unfolds in real time — preserving not just what happened, but how it felt to be there.

A Commitment to Legacy

For 250Ride.org, partnering with Magee reflects a commitment to preserving not just the reenactment — but the atmosphere, the unity, and the human connection surrounding it.

“Steve is a phenomenal event photographer with an exceptional eye for authentic human moments,” said Jesse Heninger, Marketing Director of 250Ride.org. “The 250 Ride is not only about honoring a historic act of courage — it’s about bringing communities together in real time. Steve will help us preserve the energy, the movement, and the emotion of this entire effort. Those images will become part of how this commemoration is remembered.”

As June 12–13, 2026 approaches, the 250 Ride will move through towns, across countryside, and into the heart of Philadelphia.

And through the lens of Steve Magee Photography, those moments will endure.
