Wilmington Fire Department Station 3
On June 13, 2026, as the 250Ride.org reenactment made its way through Wilmington, Delaware on the final day of Caesar Rodney's Ride for Independence, one of its most meaningful stops came at Wilmington Fire Department's East Side Station 3.
The station provided a welcome pause to water and change the horses before the final push toward Philadelphia. It also became the setting for a moving reading of the famous Thunder and Rain letter, as Thomas Rodney shared the words that have come to symbolize the urgency, sacrifice, and determination behind Caesar Rodney's legendary ride.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated men and women of Wilmington Fire Department's East Side Station 3 for their incredible hospitality and support of the reenactment. Their kindness helped preserve this important piece of American history, while their unwavering commitment to protecting the Wilmington community continues every single day. We are proud to recognize their service, both to this historic journey and to the people they serve year-round.
