The 250 Ride is proud to announce that Luigi Ciuffetelli of Luigi Ciuffetelli Photography has been named the Official Photographer of The Unheard Voices of the Revolution — the educational portrait initiative designed to bring overlooked figures of America’s founding era into powerful modern focus.
The Unheard Voices campaign ensures that the full and complex story of the American Revolution is preserved and shared — including the contributions of women, African Americans, Native Americans, and other individuals too often left out of traditional narratives. Through live portrayals and carefully crafted portraiture, these figures are presented not as distant historical footnotes, but as real people defined by struggle, conviction, and resilience.
As an editorial portrait photographer, Luigi is drawn to assignments that “venture off the beaten path” and require more than technical precision. This project, he explains, challenges him “to bridge the gap between the past and the present, creating imagery that portrays historical figures with a realism that resonates in today’s world.”
His approach is intentional.
“To honor the era of these characters, I’ve adopted a ‘less is more’ philosophy,” Luigi says. “Modern technical flourishes would only shatter the illusion of authenticity. By keeping my lighting and setup simple, I allow the subject’s physical presence to take center stage.”
Rather than relying on heavy production, Luigi focuses on expression, posture, and emotional gravity.
“I concentrate intensely on facial expressions and body language,” he explains. “I want the audience to relate to these figures not as distant names in a textbook, but as real people. The goal is to create portraits that transcend the page.”
For Luigi, this partnership also carries personal meaning.
“It is a rare and profound honor to contribute to an organization that showcases the roots of my ancestors,” he says. “This is more than an assignment — it is a mission to ensure that contributions are represented with dignity, depth, and historical accuracy.”
A Shared Vision
The Unheard Voices initiative is about more than photography. It is about education, storytelling, and legacy.
“Luigi understands that this project is about humanity,” said Jesse Heninger, Marketing Director of the 250 Ride. “We are not creating costume portraits — we are creating emotional connections to real individuals who shaped this nation. His ability to capture authenticity and intensity in a single frame makes him the perfect creative partner.”
Founder Ciro Poppiti, who leads both the 250 Ride and the Delaware Italian American Foundation, emphasized the broader purpose of the collaboration.
“The 250 Ride is a platform to share the full historical record,” said Poppiti. “The Unheard Voices initiative ensures that we honor every hero of the Revolution — not just the familiar names. Luigi’s work brings realism and emotional weight to that effort. These portraits will help audiences experience history in a way that feels immediate and personal.”
Giving History a Face
As America approaches its 250th anniversary, the 250 Ride remains committed to inclusive storytelling that reflects the depth and diversity of the Revolutionary era.
With Luigi Ciuffetelli serving as the Official Photographer of The Unheard Voices of the Revolution, this initiative will not simply recount history.
It will give it a face.
