250Ride.org Visits Kalmar Nyckel Foundation

250Ride.org and the Delaware Italian American Foundation were honored to visit the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation and Copeland Maritime Center on Wilmington’s historic Christina River waterfront as preparations continue for the organization’s 2026 Sailing Season and participation in America’s Sail 250 celebrations.

During the visit, Jesse Heninger, Director of Marketing for the Delaware Italian American Foundation and Co-Producer of the 250Ride.org initiatives, toured the interactive museum exhibits, explored the historic Tall Ship of Delaware, and met with Executive Director Sarah Kirspel and Board Chair Rob Harra to learn more about the Foundation’s educational mission and America 250 programming.

The gallery captures moments throughout the Copeland Maritime Center, the Kalmar Nyckel waterfront experience, and the growing partnership between organizations dedicated to bringing history beyond the pages of textbooks and directly into the community through immersive educational experiences.

The 250 Ride is a historical and educational initiative of the Delaware Italian American Foundation, honoring Caesar Rodney's legendary ride for Independence and the unheard voices who helped shape America's founding. Through reenactment, community events, and storytelling, we bring history to life as we approach America’s 250th anniversary.
