Jacob Broom

On April 12, 2026, 250Ride.org captured historically inspired portraits of Jacob Broom at Brandywine Battlefield Park in Delaware County, Pennsylvania — a location deeply connected to the Revolutionary War and the Battle of Brandywine. Photos were captured by official Unheard Voices photographer Luigi Ciuffetelli.

A Delaware native, Broom was a surveyor, mapmaker, and signer of the United States Constitution whose knowledge of the Brandywine region helped support both the Continental Army and George Washington during a pivotal moment in America’s fight for independence. Historical records and documented notes connected to Broom maps further highlight the direct role his work played in assisting Washington during the war. Through the 250Ride.org initiative and its Unheard Voices of the Revolution series, his story continues to be brought back into the spotlight as America approaches its 250th anniversary.
